Makrigialos is situated in the eastern and southern part of Crete. It is 15 km east of Ierapetra and just 20 km far from Sitia. It is a developed tourist resort with beautiful sandy beaches and a vivid social life during the summer months but also in the winter ones.

Despite the developed tourist services it offers, it is not featured by an intensive development. In contrary, it is characterized by its unique landscape, combining the sea and the forest mountains.

Makrigialos is addressed to every type of holidaymaker. It offers both the option of seclusion and privacy and the option of a daily lively routine.

There are many options for walks and trekking to the neighbouring villages such as Pefki, Agios Stefanos, Stavrohori and to the mountainpaths. On the other hand there are plenty of beautiful and safe beaches for children and the elderly.

Traditional tavernas and cosy bars are alongside the coast for the evening outings.
In the area it is also located the Art Studio "Stausa" where unique art crafts made of natural materials, stone and wood, are exhibited each time of year.

Very close to the big cities of Sitia and Ierapetra, is facilitated with a good road network, a frequent public transportation. Just 20 km away from the International Airport of Sitia with daily charter flights.
